Counselling

I offer humanistic counselling in a calm, confidential space where you can speak openly about what is happening in your life.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear crisis or difficulty. Sometimes there is simply a growing sense of exhaustion, disconnection, confusion, or feeling unable to hear yourself clearly beneath the demands of everyday life.

My approach is relational and reflective rather than directive. I am interested in creating a space where thoughts, feelings, patterns, and experiences can be explored honestly and at a manageable pace.

I believe that meaningful change often begins through attention: slowing down enough to notice what is happening beneath habit, self-criticism, performance, or the pressure to appear fine.

Sessions

I offer one-to-one counselling sessions online and in person where appropriate.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly.

I currently offer a limited number of low-cost spaces.

An initial session gives us an opportunity to explore what has brought you to counselling and whether working together feels appropriate and useful.

how i work

My training is grounded in the humanistic tradition, with particular interests in person-centred approaches.

Sessions are led by what you bring rather than by a rigid programme or formula. Together, we may explore:

- anxiety and overwhelm
- identity and self-worth
- life transitions
- grief and loss
- relationships
- emotional confusion
- creative difficulty or blockage
- burnout and exhaustion
- feelings of incongruence or disconnection

I do not offer quick fixes or prescriptive advice. Counselling, for me, is a space where experience can be spoken, explored, and understood more clearly over time.

Professional Information

I have completed the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I work under regular clinical supervision, hold professional indemnity insurance, and am an Individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Background

Alongside counselling, I have a long-standing background in teaching, poetry, and letterpress printing.

Although these areas may appear different on the surface, they are connected through a shared interest in language, attention, and the ways people make sense of experience.

My work as a counsellor has been shaped not only by formal training and supervised practice, but also by years spent listening closely to people, working creatively with language, and reflecting on the tensions between outward roles and inward experience.
